OPEIU 29 is taking precautionary steps to curb the spread of COVID-19, therefore please be advised the General Membership Meeting for April 15, 2020 has been cancelled.

Dear Lawmakers,

Healthcare workers and patients don’t have the proper CDC recommended safety equipment to protect us from COVID-19. We care for patients who are infected with the COVID-19 virus every day, often with inadequate protective equipment, masks that have been reused for days or no protective equipment at all. This is not only a danger to healthcare professionals working on the front lines, but a danger to patients and their families both with and without the virus.

Many of our members work in healthcare, homeless services, credit unions, insurance companies, trade unions and other essential services that are continuing to operate despite the shelter-in-place orders in California. We appreciate all you’re doing to keep our families and communities safe, and we’re committed to doing all we can to safeguard the health and safety of our members during this difficult time.
